Turizm – dunyo iqtisodiyotining eng tez rivojlanayotgan sohalaridan biridir. Turizm industriyasining ajralmas qismi sifatida mehmonxona biznesi va undagi xizmat ko‘rsatish sifati, sayohatchilarning taassurotlariga va umumiy tajribasiga katta ta’sir ko‘rsatadi. Mehmonxona xizmatlari nafaqat joy va yotoq berish, balki mehmonlarga qulaylik va sifatli dam olish imkoniyatini yaratish vazifasini ham bajaradi.
