THE ROLE OF TOURISM IN THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF UZBEKISTAN (IN THE CASE OF SAMARKAND REGION)

Tourism plays a significant role in the economic development of Uzbekistan, particularly in regions with rich cultural heritage such as the Samarkand region. This article examines the multifaceted impact of tourism on the economic growth and sustainability of Uzbekistan, with a focus on the case of the Samarkand region. By analyzing key economic indicators, tourism statistics, and policy frameworks, this study sheds light on the contributions of tourism to job creation, infrastructure development, foreign exchange earnings, and community empowerment in the Samarkand region. Furthermore, it explores the challenges and opportunities associated with tourism development, as well as strategies for harnessing the full potential of tourism as a catalyst for inclusive and sustainable economic growth in Uzbekistan.
