Abstract

At the stage of globalization of world communities, economic sanctions have taken a significant position in international relations. Being a key instrument of international politics, sanctions are used to resolve political differences. In other words, sanctions are punishments applied by participating countries to another participant, the ultimate goal of which is to force change. It should be noted that punishment in international politics is understood as deprivation of access to valuable goods, weakening the economies of developing countries by forcing them to comply with norms that are accepted as legitimate from the positions of initiators or developed countries that surpass their economic potential in relation to third world countries. In this case, the geopolitics of the same countries is determined not only by economic power, but also by geo-location, which is undoubtedly one of the reasons for economic well-being. Thus, sanctions mean the direct or indirect influence of some actors in the decision-making process, sanctioned by countries.

The main goal. To identify the main problems of legitimacy that have arisen as a result of sanctions used as an instrument of international relations. Share own suggestions in the form of methods of counteraction in the event of a legitimate crisis of countries.

Comparative analyses using statistical data and expert assessments were used in the work. The sanctions events were analyzed, sanctions against the countries of Iran, Iraq, Syria and Russia, including data for the last twenty years. The geopolitical, economic and social spheres were also taken into account when studying the legitimacy of countries. Based on the studied data, conclusions and solutions were announced, which can be found in more detail in this article.
