Abstract

The concept of lacunae in linguistics represents the gaps or absences in the linguistic or cultural elements of a language that are observable when comparing or translating texts. This study examines the reflection of lacunae in English, Russian, and Uzbek languages, using the works of Khaled Hosseini as a basis for analysis. Hosseini's novels, renowned for their deep cultural and emotional narratives, offer a rich ground for exploring how specific concepts, cultural elements, and idiomatic expressions are translated or adapted across these languages.
